City commences with roadworks in Woodstock, Salt River and Paarden Eiland

The City of Cape Town’s Urban Mobility Directorate will be commencing
with roadworks in Woodstock; Salt River and Paarden Eiland today and will work
towards completing the road maintenance over the next six weeks, weather
permitting. The City asks that road users and businesses in these areas remain
patient while the necessary roadworks are under way.
The roadworks is part of a planned maintenance programme and will entail the replacement of the existing road surface.
Work will take place on Monday to Friday from 09:00 until 15:30. However some work in Paarden Eiland, Woodstock Industrial and Salt River will be done during night time or weekends. Residents can expect a level of noise pollution during this time.
The roadworks will take place along the following roads:
- Neptune Street ( Paarden Eiland) between Powerful Street and the intersection at Marine Drive and Service Road Powerful Street (Paarden Eiland) between Bridgewater Street and Neptune Street
- Hermes Street (Paarden Eiland) between Verbena Street and Hermes Street
- Porter Street (Woostock Industrial) between Beach Road and Southgate Street
- Premier Road (Woodstock) between Upper Park Road and Marsden Road
- Voortrekker Road (Salt River) between the bridge (road over rail) and Cannon Street
'The resurfacing of roads in these, mostly industrial areas is key as these roads receive a heavy amount of traffic daily and need to be maintained constantly. We can assure the businesses and residents in the area that our aim is to complete the work as soon as possible and thank them for their patience while work is under way,' said the City's Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Mobility, Councillor Rob Quintas.
The following road sections will be closed while works are under way:
- Hermes Street
- Powerful Street
The following roads will be open half width:
- Voortrekker Road
- Premier Road
- Porter Street
- Neptune Street
All the road sections will be fully open after 17:00 every day unless night work is required.
